On April 22 at noon, you are invited to participate in Halifax's own Vote Mob!
Vote Mobs are an initiative promoted by Lead Now, an organization promoting citizen participation and intergenerational unity in politics and government. Vote mobs are essentially our way of telling the government that we are NOT apathetic and we WILL be voting in the next election. We want to show our leaders that we will have a say in the way our co...untry is governed in the present and future, and that we are not blind to the current atrocities occurring in our institutions.

Our idea for Halifax is along the same lines as those in other cities. We are going to make a video demonstrating that youth vote too, and there are issues that we want addressed by our government. The filming of the video will be at Parade Square at noon on April 22nd. We encourage everyone to come out and show their support for democracy in Canada!
The idea for the video is for everyone to hold a sign that conveys a message or issue for which they feel the government should assume responsibility. Feel free to make your message as artistic or unique as you please. You can even organize a couple friends to have related messages and you can stand together in the video, or use costumes or props to convey your message. All we ask is that you keep your message non-partisan (ex: don't specifically attack or praise one political party). The idea of the Vote Mob is to communicate that as youth, we are indeed active members of Canada's political community, and we will certainly be voting in this critical election. Specific details of the video will be given out on April 22.
The most exciting part of this event is that April 22 is that this is the day that advanced polls open! After we film the video, we're going to march up to the Returning Office to get our vote on! On the way to the Returning Office, we will be encouraging people to join us to vote. If you want to vote in the Halifax riding, please bring ID and official mail with your Halifax address on it. If you would like to vote in your home riding (not Halifax) please bring photo ID with your home address on it (like your driver's licence). For more information see Elections Canada
